Installations multimédia en réseau - La Géode - Paris France < > Nehru Science Centre - Bombay India

Une installation immersive et interactive ouverte au grand public qui relie en temps réel Paris et Bombay, par l’artiste multimédia B2Fays, en collaboration avec le réalisateur Marc Caro, le programmeur Mathieu Constans et plus d’une vingtaine d’artistes internationaux indiens et français.

L’installation sera connectée entre « la Géode » de la Villette à Paris et le « Nehru Science Centre » dans le cadre du festival« French touch » organisé par l’Alliance Française de Bombay.

Grâce à une technologie innovante, les visiteurs de chaque pays se rencontrent à travers un espace virtuel. Selon leurs déplacements, leurs mouvements et leurs voix, ils peuvent jouer, modifier et recomposer la structure graphique et sonore de l’oeuvre, outil de création modulable à l’infini.
Ensemble et en temps réel, ils réalisent une oeuvre numérique commune, un palimpseste numérique.

Réseau d’installations multimédia interactives

« Univers palimpseste » est un réseau d'installations multimédia interactives qui proposent un environnement immersif généré à partir des comportements des participants lors de leurs rencontres virtuelles.
« Univers Palimpseste » met en œuvre un dispositif multimédia immersif de création. Les visiteurs accèdent aux dispositifs en entrant dans les installations locales (France – Inde). Une œuvre multimédia liée aux lieux et à leurs patrimoines (culture, histoire, architecture, société, population…) immerge totalement les participants.
Chaque participant peut contribuer au processus de création, en temps réel, en proposant ses choix parmi les composants (son, image…) de la base de données (BDD réalisée par les artistes locaux) du lieu qu’il présente à son correspondant.
La présence physique captée (image, voix, mouvements) des interlocuteurs, génère et active le processus de création qui s’organise autour d’un phénomène de transformation automatique des différents univers ainsi révélés.
La création en cours intégrant les différents participants (image, voix, mouvement) et leurs environnements (patrimoine sélectionné …) prend la forme d’un spectacle sonore et visuel résultant du mixage des univers capturés, diffusé en temps réel simultanément dans les installations respectives.

Installations multimédia interactive

L’installation locale permet au participant d’accéder au processus de création au travers de plusieurs étapes d’interaction. Équipé d’un micro-casque, le visiteur entre dans une salle obscure et découvre progressivement l’environnement de « Digital palimpsest ».

Pour la première étape, le visiteur est face à un écran sur lequel est projeté un film vidéo représentant sa situation géographique sur le globe terrestre.
Pour la seconde étape, dès que le visiteur se déplace dans l’espace interactif, sa silhouette apparaît sur l’écran à l’intérieur d’une représentation tridimensionnelle et sonore du lieu où il se trouve.
Pour la troisième étape, le visiteur découvre les différentes dimensions picturales et musicales de l’espace visité.
Pour la quatrième étape, le visiteur entre dans l’espace de création en manipulant avec son corps et sa voix, l’environnement mis à sa disposition.

Fil d’Ariane est issu du processus pictural de B2Fays : sa peinture est composée d’une multitude d’étapes de création, des histoires ou des fragments d’histoires qui se superposent et se répondent selon une combinaison en harmonie avec les couleurs, les formes et la matière. Ces étapes, ces strates sont les mémoires des actes créateurs de la toile.

Chaque strate est créée à partir d’un élément extérieur : une photographie, un texte, une vidéo, un enregistrement sonore que l’artiste inscrit dans ses scenarii picturaux. Chacune d’elles est numérisée avant d’être recouverte à nouveau. Strate par strate, l’histoire est racontée et simultanément effacée, comme un palimpseste. L’informatique permet de relier ces strates entre elles.
L’ensemble s’articule autour du visiteur placé au centre de la création. Plongé dans la matiè visuelle et sonore, le visiteur est mis dans une situation de questionnement. Ses réactions, mouvements, paroles, cris, vociférations, chants... engendrent une transformation de l’univers traversé et deviennent des matières utilisées comme éléments constitutifs des strates.
Le spectateur a soudain la révélation de sa capacité et de son statut d’acteur, ici et maintenant. C’est tout un monde en perpétuel changement qui s’ouvre à lui et tout en préservant la fraîcheur de son regard débarrassé des préjugés muséographiques, il prend conscience qu’il "entre en peinture" : il est entré dans Xposelive.

Performance multimédia - installation locale nomade

Equipé d’un micro-casque, le visiteur entre dans une salle obscure, son image et sa voix captées sont mixées aux matériaux visuels et sonores des artistes (un peintre et un musicien) présents dans le dispositif.

Images et musiques obtenues sont diffusées immdéiatement sur le support de projection et dans l’environnement acoustique de l’installation.

La peinture de B2Fays, composée de strates, alimente installations ou performances multimédia interactives, et pose la trame d’un palimpseste numérique. Béatrice de Fays conçoit des dispositifs, élaborés à partir de différentes techniques et divers média, permettant au visiteur d’entrer dans « l’espace » de la peinture :

J'invite le visiteur à entrer en peinture, c’est-à-dire dans le sens, par le truchement de la matière (images, sons, réseaux).

Network of interactive multimedia installations - La Géode - Paris France < > Nehru Science Centre - Bombay India

A full-immersion and interactive installation open to the big public that connects Paris and Bombay in real time, created by the multimedia artist B2Fays, in collaboration with the director Marc Caro, the programmer Mathieu Constans and more than twenty Indian and French international artists.

From April 3rd until April 7th 2008, the installation in network will be connected between the « Géode de la Villette » in Paris and the « Nehru Science Centre Museum » during « French touch » festival organized by the French Alliance of Bombay.

Thanks to an innovative technology, the visitors of each country can meet each other through a virtual space. According to their motion and their voice, they can play, modify and recompose the graphic and sonorous structure of the work, a creation tool to be modified without any limit. Together and in real time, they create a common digital work, a digital palimpsest.

Network of interactive multimedia facilities

“Univers palimpseste” is a network of interactive multimedia installations offering a full-immersion environment generated by the participants’ behaviours when they virtually meet.
“Univers Palimpseste” implements a full-immersion multimedia creative installation. The visitors access the device by entering the local installations (France - India). A multimedia work related to the locations and their heritages (culture, history, architecture, society, population…) completely immerses the participants.
Each participant can contribute to the creative process, in real time, by selecting among the components (sound, image…) of the data base (DB produced by the local artists) related to the location he offers to his correspondent. The speakers’ re-created physical presence (image, voice, movements) generates and activates the creative process that takes shape around a phenomenon of automated transformation of the different worlds so revealed.
The creation in progress integrating the different participants (image, voice, movements) and their environments (selected heritage) takes the shape of a sound and visual exhibition resulting from the captured worlds mix, broadcast in real-time simultaneously through the respective installations.

Interactive multimedia installation

The local installation allows the participant to access the creation process through several interaction stages. With a headphone/mic, the guest enters a black room and gradually discovers the environment of « Digital palimpsest ».

In the first stage, the guest is in front of a screen and he can see a video that represents his geographical situation on the earth globe.
In the second stage, as soon as the guest moves himself in the interactive space, his profile appears on the screen inside a three-dimensional and sonorous representation of the place where he is.
In the third stage, the guest discovers the different pictorial and musical dimensions of the visited space.
In the fourth stage, the guest enters the creation space and can control, with his body and his voice, the environment that he has at his disposal.

Univers palimpseste comes from B2Fays’ pictorial process: her painting is made up of a multitude of stages of creation, stories or part of stories that superimpose on and echo each other according to a combination in harmony with colors, forms and material. These stages, strata are the memories of the creating acts of the painting.

Each stratum is created from an outside element : a photography, a text, a video, a sound recording that the artist enters within her pictorial scenerï. Each stratum is digitized before being re-covered. Stratum by stratum, the history is narrated and simultaneously erased, as a palimpsest. Data processing allows to link these strata between themselves.
The whole work is based on the visitor, set at the core of the creation. Immersed in visual and sound material, the visitor is placed in a questioning position. His reactions, movements, words, shouts, yells, songs... generate a transformation of the passed through universe and become materials used as constituent elements of strata.
The spectator suddenly discovers his actor ability and status, here and now. It’s a whole endlessly changing world that opens to him and preserving his freshness of eyes, rid of museum prejudices he becomes aware he is "entering the painting". He has gone into Xposelive.
Thus, looking at, memory transits through.

Multimedia performance - nomadic local facilitie

Equipped with headphones, the visitor goes into a dark room, his captured image and voice are simultaneously mixed with the visual and musical media of the artists (a painter and a composer) present in the facility.

The obtained images and music are immediately broadcast through the projection device and in the acoustic environment of the facility.

B2Fays' painting, made up of strata, feeds interactive multimedia installations or performances, and sets the framework of a digital palimpsest. Béatrice de Fays conceives systems worked out from different techniques and various media, allowing the visitor to come into "the space" of the painting:

I invite the visitor to come into painting, which means within sense, through material (images, sounds, networks).
